We care.
Natural Ingredients.
We use only natural ingredients that are curated with importance placed on local, sustainable, and ethically produced products.
You will never find synthetic dyes in any of our products. Instead, we use ingredients such as activated charcoal, French red clay, seaweed powder, turmeric, rosehip powder, and more as we continue to learn and experiment.
Our Waxes.
Our coconut/apricot wax is renewable, biodegradable, natural, vegan, paraben and phthalate free. It is clean burning, non-toxic, has excellent scent throw and is environmentally and sustainably sourced. Most common candles are made with paraffin wax which is a derivative of petroleum, is not environmentally friendly and contains a variety of toxins which are exasperated when burned. You won’t find these nasties in our candles ♡.
Our beeswax is sourced locally from a family-run apiary in Beamsville, Ontario in the Niagara Region. Beeswax is the most natural candle wax, and therefore does not produce any toxic byproducts. They also naturally neutralize odours in your home.
Our Oils and Butters.
Essential oils are a concentrated extraction from the plant itself through the process of distillation. It is the most organic and non-toxic form to provide scent to scented candles. While most of our candles are essential oils only, we do have a few candle options which are a mixture of essential and fragrance oils. But worry not, our fragrance oils are the best of the best and are paraben, phthalate, lyral, and lilial free.
The shea butter found in our soaps and lip butters are sourced from Baraka Shea Butter Company. They provide dignity of income to hand-working rural women in Ghana. Their product is handmade, natural, cruelty and chemical free, community sourced and are proud supporters of fair trade and fair wages. More info available here: www.barakasheabutter.com.
Up-Cycling.
At Trouble Maker we love to up-cycle and repurpose materials, and we’re excited to share with you that the antique glasses used in these candles are thrifted and up-cycled from various second-hand stores and auctions.
We believe in the importance of sustainability and reducing waste, and we take pride in giving new life to vintage glassware that might otherwise be discarded. Each piece of glass has its own unique character and history, and we love incorporating that into our creations.
By using thrifted and up-cycled glass, we’re able to create beautiful and one-of-a-kind candles that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also eco-friendly. We hope that these creations inspire others to think creatively about repurposing materials and reducing their environmental impact.
Sustainable Packaging.
We are a company that believes in sustainability and taking care of our planet. That's why we make sure that all of our packaging is either second-use, compostable, recyclable, or suitable for second use.
We understand that packaging is an essential part of delivering our products to our customers, but we also recognize the impact that packaging waste can have on the environment. That's why we have taken steps to ensure that our packaging has a minimal impact on the planet.
Our recyclable packaging is made from materials that can be recycled, reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. We encourage our customers to recycle our packaging after use, so that it can be turned into new products and materials.
Finally, our second-use packaging is designed to be reused for other purposes. For example, our glass jars can be repurposed as storage containers or vases, while our paper bags can be used for gift wrapping or other crafts.
We are committed to doing our part to protect the planet, and we believe that every little bit helps. By using compostable, recyclable, or second-use packaging, we are taking a step in the right direction towards a more sustainable future.
